More than 30 experts and stakeholders, including the major tobacco companies, representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Customs, Ministry of Finance, National Tax Agency, Members of Parliament, Ministry of E-Government, academia and NGOs, attended in the conference “Data-Driven Enforcement: Analytic Modelling for Illicit trade” , which took place on 20 May 2022 in Sofia.
The primary purpose of the conference was to disseminate results of the project ”The IT for Illicit Trade Risk Management (IT2RM)”. The project team presented the data warehouse, the Forecasting and Risk Management models and the Scenario Builder. The intention was that the exchanges at this hybrid conference would provide participants with increased understanding of the data driven enforcement. The event demonstrated the importance of the efforts of different stakeholders to work together against the illicit cigarette trade in Eastern Europe.
